Training Camp Mailbox: Antawn Jamison
Which new addition to the team are you looking forward to playing with the most? - Bob Morris from Baltimore, Maryland:
Antawn: I think it is Caron (Butler). He is a great defender. I can learn a lot from him on both ends of the floor, especially the way he plays defense. I think he can learn a lot from me. I think it is a situation where we can really complement each other and we can definitely have some fun together on the court.
What player do you believe improved most over the summer, and in what ways? - Steve from Rockville, Maryland:
Antawn: Probably, Brendan (Haywood). I think he understands his role is going to be expanded a little bit more. I think he improved in his offensive game, his foot speed and movement. I think he saw all the strides he made last year and we will definitely need his offensive influence this year.
Also, what did you try to add your game this summer? - Steve from Rockville, Maryland:
Antawn: I definitely improved my jump shot a little bit more. I am more consistent farther away from the basket. I am gaining confidence to create my shot off the dribble. I am more comfortable with the ball in my hand as well.
How will the execution of the team be affected having most of the roster back for a second year together under Eddie Jordan’s system? - Kevin Garland from Washington, DC:
JAntawn: I think the more and more you play in the system, the better and better it gets. The more you understand it and recognize it, the better we play. Another year in the system is going to help us. I enjoy playing with these guys that are returning and I am looking forward to playing with the new players on the team.
What do you think of the city of Washington and the fans? - Nick Uppal
Antawn: I think this is a wonderful city. There is a great deal of excitement surrounding the basketball team. It was an exciting environment last season, especially in the playoffs. The fans were great, very supportive and really were behind us. We fed off their energy.
Which forward position do you enjoy playing the most? - D.Jenkins, College Park, MD
Antawn: I don’t have a preference. I just want to be on the court.
