With the score tied at 95 and just seconds remaining on the clock, Jordan Crawford sunk a three at the buzzer to lift the Wizards to a 98-95 victory over the Blazers and the season sweep.
The game opened up as a high scoring affair with the Wizards coming out of the gate in the first quarter shooting over 60% and leading 34-31 after one. Nene was on fire in the early going, opening the game 8/9 from the field for 17 points. The game slowed down drastically after that with the teams combining for only 36 second quarter points and 32 third quarter points and saw the Wizards enter the fourth quarter up by five.
The Wizards led the entire way in the fourth quarter and by as many as eight points until Wesley Matthews tied the game at 95 with a step back three pointer with just under eight seconds to play. After the Blazers used a foul they had to give, the inbounds play went to Crawford who shot from way downtown as time expired and drilled the miracle three to win it. The game was the Jordan Crawford show in the fourth quarter as he had 13 points on 5/7 shooting, including his end game magic.
Martell Webster led the Wizards with 24 points in his return to Portland where he spent the first five years of his career. Nene also had 24 points, including the 17 in the first quarter. Emeka Okafor had another double-double with 13 points and 13 boards, his fourth in his last seven games. Jordan Crawford had no points through three quarters, but 13 in the fourth including the game winner.
For the Blazers, Nicolas Batum had a triple-double with 12 points, 11 assists and 10 boards. Damian Lillard led the team with 18 points on 7/17 shooting, after opening the game just 1/10 from the field. All five of the Blazers starters scored in double figures, with LaMarcus Aldridge and Wesley Matthews getting 17 and J.J. Hickson 16.
The Wizards will close out the west coast swing against Utah on Wednesday at 9pm as they look to finish the road trip with a winning record.
