After losing three in a row at home, the Wizards hit the road and got their first win in 2014, defeating Charlotte 97-83. After leading by four at the half, the Wizards opened up a 20 point lead in the third quarter and cruised to victory. Bradley Beal got back to his scoring ways, leading the Wizards with 21 while Gortat had a double-double with 18 points and 13 boards. Gerald Henderson led all scorers with 27 in the loss.
For the third straight game, the opening moments of the second half defined the game. This time though, it went in the Wizards favor. The Wizards opened the half on a 21-4 run and held the Bobcats scoreless for a six minute stretch. The Bobcats would never get closer than seven the rest of the way.
Player of the Game
Marcin Gortat was dynamic in this one. Not only did he get a double-double with 18 points and 13 boards, he was directly responsible for holding Al Jefferson to six points. He also blocked three shots.
23-16. The Wizards Achilles' heel over the past two games, the third quarter, was a strength tonight as they outscores the Bobcats by seven in the frame.
Trever Booker came up huge when this one counted most, scoring 8 of his 12 points in the critical third quarter and also chipped in 8 boards.
