The Wizards third straight win was in blowout fashion as they scored their season high in points and were too much for the Magic all night, winning 120-91.

With two minutes to go in the first half, the Wizards held a comfortable 19 point lead. The Magic ran off 13 consecutive points over the final two minutes to whittle the lead to six and take away all the momentum the Wizards had built up with their dominant first half. But the third quarter saw the Wizards push right back with their highest scoring quarter of the season (37 points) and opened up a 19 point lead again. The fourth quarter was more of the same as the Wizards finished off their most dominant and complete performance of the season to win by 29 points.

The Wizards set all kinds of season highs tonight in the win including points in a game (120), margin of victory (29), points in a half (61), points in a quarter (37), field goal % (56%), and assists (32). The run-and-gun proved to be back with Wall at the helm as the Wizards got out in transition all night leading to 29 fast break points compared to the Magic's 4. Finally the Wizards big men contributed on both ends as the Wizards both outrebounded the Magic and outscored them in the paint.

Six Wizards finished the game in double figures led by Emeka Okafor's dominant performance with 19 points and 11 boards on 8/13 shooting. Price and Seraphin both had 18 points and Beal had 17 on 7/10 shooting. Wall added 12 points and six assists while Vesely had his most complete game of the season with 10 points, 7 boards, 3 assists and he was a game high +29.

During the Magic's win over the Clippers on Saturday night, Afflalo had 30 points but tonight the Wizards held him to just 2 on 1/11 shooting. Jameer Nelson led the Magic with 19 points and 12 assists while Glen Davis returned from injury to the tune of 13 points.

The Wizards look to keep the winning streak going as they head out west for a five game road trip which starts Wednesday in Sacramento.

On the game:

“That was as good of basketball as obviously we’ve played all year round, all around—defensively, offensively. Offensively, as I told them, that was a beautiful thing tonight, to watch that. With ball movement, you could just see everybody feed off of it. The ball is moving, everybody’s touching it, whether you get the shot or not, you’re involved.”

On the dwindling lead going into halftime:

“As I told the guys, you let it slip away, now we’ve got to win the game again. They came out and they did it.”
On the third- quarter run:

“Well my group the last minute and forty-five seconds did a bad job of closing out the quarter and they got back into the game. Coach came in and said we got to do a better job of closing out quarters and stay with the same game plan we had in the first two quarters and we came out and did a good job of getting the lead back up.”

On his role on the team:

“I’m not going to say I’m that important, I just feel like I’m a big key missing to the piece. I’m just trying to help my teammates out. It’s just at times we play hard and we’ve been in a lot of games. We just didn’t have anybody to close four quarters out or get us easy points or make the job easier. My job is to come in and use my ability, and that’s getting into the lane, make easy shots, get fast breaks, and keep up high intensity on defense, and offense, and step up a lot.”
On his dunk in the third quarter:

“That was just a great pass by John (Wall). It shows his court awareness. It was just a run out situation so to speak, I just contested the three and got out. They didn’t get back so John made a good pass and I just wanted to attack the basket.”

On sharing the ball:

“That’s just us having fun. That’s the best basketball we played all year team wise. Everybody really stepped up, everybody made shots, played great defense, rebounded the ball well. It was just a great team effort overall. I mean that’s just the way we have to keep playing throughout the rest of the year.”
On team coming together:

“I know what we did early in the year, all the work we put in at training camp and how well we looked during that time. I just feel like it’s just starting to transition finally for us from practice to the game.”

On improved play:

“Just these three games, being able to show what we’re capable of doing night in and night out. These games have not been flukes, we have just been playing very well. Really don’t think it would matter who the opponent was. Offensive execution and defensive execution have been very good.”
On game:

“Today was a great game, everybody enjoyed the playing. We played together and we helped each other on defense and on offense. We just had fun. It was a great game to play.”

On getting the chance to play more minutes:

“I try to stay focused and just work hard every day and wait for my chance. And when I get a chance just be ready to play the game. Today went well and I’m happy for that.”
