This one looked like a surefire blowout in the first half as the Wizards led by as many as 28, but the Bucks cut it to just three in the second half before the Wizards pulled out the 114-107 win. It was a tale of two halves as the Wizards had their highest scoring half of the year in the first with 75 points and shot 67%. They then managed just 39 points and 37% shooting in the second half. Trevor Ariza led the way once again with 28 points and Bradley Beal had his third straight game with 20 or more points, finishing with 23. Brandon Knight led the Bucks with 25 in the loss.
With just over two minutes to play, a pair of Ersan Ilyasova free throws cut the Wizards' once 28 point lead to just three. Bradley Beal responded in a big way though, hitting a tough layup, followed by a three to ensure the Wizards' victory. Beal had 12 of his 23 in the fourth quarter.
Player of the Game
Trevor Ariza has been simply on fire of late and tonight was no different. He scored 28 points on 9/12 shooting and 5/7 from three point range. He added seven boards and two assists for good measure.
75. The number of points the Wizards put up in the first half, their highest scoring half of the season.
Drew Gooden has only played in four games but is already looking like a crucial cog, tonight scoring 13 points on 6/9 shooting, grabbing five boards and blocking two shots.
