John Wall scored 25 points and the Wizards held off the Hawks late run and grabbed a 101-97 victory at Verizon Center on Saturday night. The Wizards looked to have the game locked up, leading by ten with about two and a half minutes to go but the Hawks went on an 8-0 run to make things interesting but it was not quite enough. Wall led six Wizards in double which included Marcin Gortat's 32nd double-double of the year (12 points/11 rebounds) and another big night off the bench from Drew Gooden (16 points/8 rebounds). Jeff Teague had 19 for the Hawks, Paul Millsap had 17 and Pero Antic scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Key Moment

A three point play by Jeff Teague with 39 seconds to play cut a once double digit Wizards lead to just two. On the ensuing Wizards possession, Marcin Gortat missed a layup to give the Hawks a chance to tie or take the lead. Gortat more than made up for it with a huge block on Teague. The Hawks retained possession but Teague would miss again and Gooden closed things out with a pair of free throws.

Player of the Game

With the Wizards trailing in the third quarter, John Wall took over. Wall scored 13 points in the last 7:16 of the third quarter and the Wizards took the lead during that time which they would never look back from. He finished with 25 points on 10/20 shooting, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Key Number

1. That's the Wizards magic number now as any win or Knicks loss will clinch a playoff spot.

Unsung Hero

Where would the Wizards be without Drew Gooden? Gooden put forth another big night off the bench, scoring 16 points on a perfect 5/5 shooting, grabbing eight boards and finishing as a Wizards-high +21.
