Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you provide transportation?
A: No, parents are required to bring their child to camp, check them in and also check them out.

Q: What if my child turns 8 years old after the camp dates?
A: We will accept your child, as long as he turns 8 in the same calendar year as the camp.

Q: When do you usually sellout?
A: Based on the quick response, we are anticipating to sellout in early May, but we cannot guarantee that the camp won’t sellout sooner this year. You may call or email us around that time to see if we still have openings.

Q: I sent in my application and tuition payment for my child. When and how will I know if my child has been accepted?
A: You will receive an email confirmation once we have received payment. Please bring this confirmation with you to the first day of camp.

Q: What kind of supervision do campers receive?
A: Campers are always escorted by their own coach to all destinations during the day.

Q: Is there any medical/training staff at the camp?
A: We have an athletic training staff, which includes a Nationally Certified Athletic Trainer, on duty at all times.

Q: Is lunch included with the price?
A: Lunch on the last day of camp is included in the price but campers are to bring their own lunch Monday thru Thursday.

Q: If my child has special meal requirements such as allergies to certain food, eating Kosher or being a vegetarian, what do I do?
A: You will be responsible for packing their lunch each day of the camp.

Q: Can my child bring electronic games, MP3 players, television, etc.?
A: There will not be down time throughout the day for these items so we do not recommend bringing them. We recommend not bringing anything of value as we will also not be responsible for lost or stolen items.

Q: Does my child need extra money at camp and where should he keep it?
A: We have a camp store that is open twice daily for kids to purchase drinks, snacks, gear, etc. We require campers to put their money into our Camp Bank, where they can withdraw their money at specified free-time periods. At the end of camp, any unspent money will be returned to you in full. This eliminates the possibility of any money being stolen by another camper. If you decide that your child should hold onto the money, we will not be responsible for it being lost or stolen.

Q: Will my child be at a disadvantage if he is not very good?
A: Campers are assigned to leagues based on both age & ability thru a draft process on the first day of camp. We try to keep each team to a maximum of eight players and each camper will play the same amount of time in each game. Our camp also offers exclusive NBA game night experience opportunities that are available to all campers. Besides learning basketball skills, campers have the choice to learn from real NBA game night broadcasting and game operation crew. There is something for everyone!

Q: Can my child move up or down in leagues?
A: On the first day, after the coaches have evaluated the talent and drafted the teams as evenly as possible, they will ask some children whether they would like to move up, move down or stay in the same league.

Q: May I change my session?
A: You are able change your session(s) at anytime as long as space is available in the session of your choice. Please contact us by phone or email with your request.

Q: Can I cancel my registration?
A: If you cancel your registration, you will not receive a refund. Campers who have to cancel or leave camp due to an illness or injury must provide a doctors note in order to receive a prorated refund based on the number of days spent at camp. There are no refunds if your child voluntarily leaves camp.

Q: Where is the coaching staff from?
A: The coaches are from many states with different levels of experience-college, high school and middle school.

Q: Who are the Guest Speakers?
A: There is generally one speaker each day (Current or former Wizards players/coaches). Due to players’ off-season schedules, we will not know who will appear until we are in session at camp.

Q: May I visit the camp during the week?
A: The camp is only open to parents and visitors on the last day of camp when awards are given away.

Q: What time is registration on the first day?
A: From 8:00 am to 9:00 am. If you happen to be running late, please do not worry. We will register your child with no problems when you do arrive. We would rather you travel safely than to rush.

Q: What time should I pick up my child on the last day?
A: Camp will end after the awards around 2-3pm (subject to change)

Q: What is the parking situation at camp sessions help at the Verizon Center?
A: You must purchase a parking pass at the Verizon Center parking entrance, located on the 6th st block of the building. We encourage parents to find street parking if possible.
