Yesterday, the Washington Wizards owners Irene and Abe Pollin in collaboration with DC City Council member Marion Barry, donated junior varsity and varsity boys and girls basketball uniforms to three schools in the Washington, DC area. The three high schools, Anacostia, Spingarn, and Ballou, attended last night's game and were presented with the jerseys that were donated by Mr. and Mrs. Pollin.

The formal presentation of the uniforms took place at halftime with Wizards guard Nick Young and DC City Council members Marion Barry, Harry Thomas and Council Chairman Vincent Gray participating in the festivities.

The donation by the Pollin family is part of an ongoing effort to assist the athletic departments at the three Washington, DC high schools. In addition to this donation, Washington Sports and Entertainment has planned three community service days for each high school. The first of these three community service days, was held on September 27, 2007 when Washington Sports and Entertainment employees painted the gymnasium and landscaped the grounds of Spingarn High School.

The remaining service days for Anacostia and Ballou High Schools are scheduled for 2008.
