Wizards players, and representatives from Washington Sports and Entertainment delivered toys, books, clothes, games, gift certificates, and 13" AQUOS LCD Televisions provided by Sharp Electronics to designated families in the District who need help with the holidays.
“It is always great to participate in this event," said Wizards forward Antawn Jamison. "This is the time of year to be thankful and to give back to your community. It is important that we do our part to make sure these families have a wonderful holiday season. I really enjoyed visiting with all these special families this afternoon.”
Jamison, Caron Butler, Jarvis Hayes, Brendan Haywood, Michael Ruffin and Etan Thomas teamed-up to adopt 14 families for the holidays, six of whom were visited with a special delivery.
“I am just thankful that I can help out," added Butler. "It was great to see Mr. Pollin, Coach Jordan and my teammates take part this afternoon. We really enjoyed this experience and hope all the families enjoy the holidays. We thank them for letting us share in their holiday season.”
Wizards Chairman Abe Pollin, Head Coach Eddie Jordan, James Lang, Roger Mason and Mistye Ruffin were also on hand to assist in the distribution of gifts.
“This is wonderful to get to participate in this program," said Jordan. "I always look forward to this day every year. It is certainly very special for me because this is my hometown. I am happy that we could help assist these families during the holiday season. I wish everyone a very happy holiday!
