Wizards Care announced today that they will partner with Capital Area Food Bank in an effort to address the issue of hunger in the D.C. metropolitan area.
“When we launched Wizards Care, we pledged to provide assistance to the youth, homeless and underserved” said Wizards Chairman Abe Pollin. “Partnering with an outstanding organization such as Capital Area Food Bank will help us do so by addressing and combating the hunger issue in our community.”
The partnership between the two organizations will involve fundraising and awareness campaigns benefiting the Food Bank throughout the remainder of the NBA season. Programs included in the partnership will include player appearances, employee incentive programs, direct fundraising, live and silent auctions and the popular “Baller’s Bowl” (a bowling fundraiser to be held at Lucky Strike at Gallery Place in late March).
“Our partnership with Wizards Care will tremendously help our efforts in the struggle to end hunger,” said Capital Area Food Bank President and CEO Lynn Brantley. “Irene and Abe Pollin have been ardent champions of the Capital Area Food Bank for many years and we certainly appreciate the continued support of this organization.”
Wizards Care is inspired by Irene and Abe Pollins’ 44-year legacy of giving. Since taking over ownership of the Wizards franchise in 1964, the Pollins have demonstrated a commitment to social responsibility and a passion for giving back to the community. Their philanthropic and humanitarian efforts have created an unparalleled history for Wizards Care to follow.
