On Saturday, Wizards Care partnered with Capital Area Food Bank to host the first-ever Envelope Assist Night. All fans received an envelope where they could make cash donations to Wizards Care Charities. Fans who donated $5 or more were entered into a drawing to win one of three prizes: Framed Antawn Jamison Autographed Authentic Jersey, Caron Butler Autographed Game-Worn Shoes, 4 VIP Tickets to a future Wizards game and 2 High Five Kid Passes.

The evening was a great success. One hundred percent of the proceeds collected will go towards feeding those who suffer from hunger in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area and educating, empowering and enlightening the community about the issues of hunger and nutrition.

“The partnership really began with Mr. and Mrs. Pollin several years ago,” noted Judy Holland, Senior Vice President of Community Relations. “The issue of hunger in our community has always been at the forefront of the activities they have been involved in, so partnering with the Capital Area Food Bank was just a natural fit for us.”

The Capital Area Food Bank is the largest, public nonprofit hunger and nutrition education resource in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. Each year the Capital Area Food Bank distributes 20 million pounds of food, including 6 million pounds of fresh produce, to over 700 partner agencies. The Capital Area Food Bank was founded on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, January 15, 1980.

Those who were not in attendance still have an opportunity to donate and win great prizes. Wizards Care and Capital Area Food Bank are also hosting an Online Envelope Raffle. Fans who donate $5 or more to Wizards Care by 11:59 p.m. on March 29th will be entered into the online raffle. For every $5 donated you will have your name entered into the raffle (ex. $25 donated equals five raffle entries).

The following prizes will be awarded to winners of the raffle: Framed Gilbert Arenas Autographed Authentic Jersey, Antawn Jamison Autographed Game-Worn Shoes, 4 VIP Tickets to a future Wizards game and 2 High Five Kid Passes.

The raffle drawing will take place on April 7th and the winners will be posted online at www.WizardsCare.com.
