Washington Wizards Owner Irene Pollin, and Washington DC Mayor Anthony Williams were joined by Washington Wizards All-Star Guard Gilbert Arenas as the city of Washington DC launched “We Can – Together” (Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity & Nutrition) on February 28, 2006.

WE CAN!, a program developed by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, will be implemented in several District Recreational Centers to encourage families to make lifestyle changes to help prevent obesity.

Backed by the Irene Pollin-founded Sister to Sister: Everyone Has a Heart Foundation, “We Can-Together” will be a grass roots educational campaign and action plan that will encourage primary care givers, and families as a whole, to “work smart” in making lifestyle changes that include diet and exercise to prevent childhood obesity and heart disease.
