On Thursday, the Washington Wizards kicked off the annual 12 Days of Holiday Cheer with the 7th annual Gilbert’s Christmas Dream at Toys“R”Us in Rockville. All-Star Guard Gilbert Arenas took five lucky foster children from the metropolitan Washington region to Toys“R”Us and give them the “shopportunity” of a lifetime.

Members of the Wizard Girls spent the afternoon with twenty selected students from transitional education programs/dance troops, treating them to a performance of The Nutcracker at Warner Theatre.
Day 4: Tuesday, December 7th. G-Man Holiday Dunk Show
Tench Tilghman Elementary School, Baltimore, MD received a special holiday dunk show from G-Man. Council President Young also was in attendance to Welcome G-Man and his secret service dunkers to Baltimore. All kids attending the show received giveaway items with red holiday bows.
John Wall hosted a post-game holiday party for over 200 children from the metropolitan area on Friday, December 10 on the practice court at Verizon Center. Before attending the party, the children attended that night’s game featuring the Wizards and Knicks. The children were chosen with the assistance of various non profit youth organizations that focus on impacting the lives of children dealing with challenging situations.
Wizards Andray Blatche presented 50 students with a special holiday Reading Timeout featuring author, Kwenji Jackson and illustrator, Daryl Humphrey on their book “The Rapping Salamander.”
Day 7: Saturday, December 18th. Wizards Care Toyland Drive
Fans were encouraged to donate new toys to be donated to The Salvation Army. In return each fan that donated an item received a ticket to a future Wizards home game.
The Walter Reed Wounded Warrior Wheelchair Basketball team, which consists of Soldiers and Marines that have endured multiple physical injuries related to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan were invited to the Wizards open practice. Team members had the opportunity to take pictures and meet players following practice.
Day 9: Monday, December 20th. Wizards Care Movie Night
60 students from a local school were invited to Verizon Center for a movie night. Following the movie the kids were invited to attend the Wizards game.
The 12 Days of Holiday Cheer continued on Thursday, with the team’s annual Family to Family delivery. John Wall, Nick Young, Kevin Seraphin, Trevor Booker, Lester Hudson and Hamady Ndiaye along with members of the front office, the Wizard Girls and G-Wiz delivered gifts to underserved families in the DC metropolitan area.
