Alexander Alexander

Alexander is in his second season with the Wizards after being acquired by the team last spring via trade with the Dallas Mavericks. Alexander, who has been a big contributor in recent weeks, has scored in double figures in 11 of the past 13 games, including a stretch of three consecutive 20-plus point games earlier this month. This run was highlighted by a season-high 32 point performance in an overtime win against Tracy McGrady and the Orlando Magic on March 3. In the month of March, Alexander is averaging 14.8 points per game for the Wizards.

Named Second-Team All American during his senior season at Fresno State, Alexander, who majored in Anthropology, led the nation in scoring at 24.8 ppg in his final season with the Bulldogs. He would go on to be selected 13th overall in the 2000 NBA Draft by the Magic.

Courtney, who enjoys Hawaii as his favorite vacation spot and names the lasagna at The Olive Garden as his favorite dish, chatted live. Read what he had to say!

Julio from Bridgeport CT: Hey Courtney, What do you like to do when your not playing basketball???

Courtney Alexander: Depends on how tired I am. The season gets long. I like to shoot pool and play cards. XBox and things like that.

An (Australia): What were your hobbies as a child?

Courtney Alexander: Played a whole lot of basketball. Played Nintendo. That's about it. Hang out with friends and stuff like that.

jeff: How tall were you in 8th grade?

Courtney Alexander: I was about 5'9" in eigth grade.

Ben Draper( salt lake): Courtney, Thanks for stepping it up while M.J. was out. I hope you guys make the playoffs. Whats the feeling in the locker room concerning the playoffs? with only 13 games left.

Courtney Alexander: It's obviously touchy time for all of us. We definitely want to make the playoffs. We can do it; it's just a matter of taking one game at a time.

Kara (Manassas, VA): Why did you pick the number 4? I am number 4 also!!! Good luck at the game tommorrow!

Courtney Alexander: Actually, coming out of high school I wore number 32. When I got to Dallas, Christian Laettner had it. had it. So I swicthed to my son's birthday which is "8." When I came to the Wizards< Nesby had it , so I cut it in half.

Kyle (Dallas): Do you feel any resentment about being trading from Dallas?

Courtney Alexander: No. This is a business and obviously it was in the best interest to everybody. Michael Jordan spoke highly of me and they brought me here. I have no hard feelings for Don Nelson in Dallas.

Manassas: What aspect of your game do you think has most improved this season?

Courtney Alexander: I think I"m letting the game come to me more this year instead of attacking the game.

Jamie (Edgar): Which player is the easiest to get along with on the team?

Courtney Alexander: All of them, to be honest. We all have a good relationship. On and off the court, we have good chemistry.

Jerry (Riverdale, MD): Why did you decide to buy 16"s instead of Dubs for the Navigator?

Courtney Alexander: Actually I have 20"s for the Navigator.

Maryanne (Alameda,CA): Growing up what were your favorite NBA teams?

Courtney Alexander: Chicago Bulls were my favorite team growing up.

fred, new york: what drew you to majoring in anthro?

Courtney Alexander: Actually they didn't have the department I wanted to explore at the time, so I fell back into antrhopology.

joe, miami: who do you like in the fianl four?

Courtney Alexander: I think Maryland has a good shot of winning it all.

Tino Persico: Courtney...how do you think the team will hold up for this last 10 game stretch ?

Courtney Alexander: We're all hoping to pick our games up another level and make the playoffs -- which has been our goal all season.

Courtney Alexander: Thanks to the Wizards fans for your support. We'll try to give you what you all want and that's exciting basketball.
