Stephen Curry Featured On Regional Cover Of Sports Illustrated

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is featured on a regional cover of this week's Sports Illustrated, it was revealed today. The magazine is set to hit newsstands later this week.

Through seven games of this year's Playoffs, Curry is averaging 27.1 points, 9.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.14 steals in 42.4 minutes per game, while shooting 47.9% (69-144 FG) from the field, 43.9% (29-66 3FG) from three-point range and 100.0% (23-23 FT) from the free throw line. Amongst league-leaders during the 2013 NBA Playoffs, the 6-3 guard ranks first in assists, first in three-pointers made, third in scoring, third in steals and fourth in minutes.

Curry, 25, has registered four games during the postseason with 30-or-more points, including a Playoff career-high 44 points (18-35 FG, 6-14 3FG, 2-2 FG) and 11 assists in a 127-129 double-overtime loss in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals last night (May 6) at San Antonio.

The Sports Illustrated cover features a picture of Curry taking a jump shot at Oracle Arena during the First Round of the 2013 NBA Playoffs, when the Warriors defeated the Denver Nuggets in six games, along with the title "Give Stephen Curry An Inch And He Might Take Golden State A Mile" and a story written by Sports Illustrated senior writer Chris Ballard.

This marks the first time the Warriors have been featured on a Sports Illustrated cover since December 1997, when the magazine documented the Latrell Sprewell incident. Curry becomes the first Warriors player to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated for his on-court performance since Lloyd "World B." Free graced the cover on December 15, 1980.
