Warriors 2010 Draft Party - 6/24/10
January 1, 2010
Nearly 5,000 fans helped the Warriors usher in the 2010-11 season at the team's Draft Party, presented by Verizon, on June 24 at Oracle Arena.
Fans lined up outside Oracle Arena for the admission-free event.
Not only were fans anxious to see who the Warriors would select, but they were also eager to check out the new Warriors merchandise featuring the team's new logo.
The Warriors 2010 Draft Party included several highlights.
But before the Draft Party even began, Warriors Season Ticket Holders were treated to a barbecue outside of Oracle Arena.
Kinder's Meats supplied the grub at the Season Ticket Holder Barbecue.
Warriors Season Ticket Holders helped themselves to some of the finest BBQ that the Bay Area has to offer.
The barbecue had all of the guests in high spirits, but the festivities were far from finished.
As a special 'Thank You,' the Warriors provided each guest with a Warriors backpack adorned with the new logo.
After a satisfying meal, the Season Ticket Holders were ready to enter the Draft Party.
Upon entering Oracle Arena, fans quickly filled the designated seating areas.
All fans attending the Draft Party were encouraged to donate their old cell phones and accessories to the Verizon HopeLine.
While some fans stopped upon entering to have their photo taken with the Warrior Girls ...
... others headed straight to the Warriors Team Store to stock up on new merchandise.
Season Ticket Holders had the luxury of receiving their merchandise discount in an exclusive store on the Oracle Arena floor.
The Draft Party provided the first chance for fans to wear merchandise featuring the new look of the 2010-11 Warriors.
While plenty of fans kept busy in the Team Store prior to the NBA Draft, others noticed something interesting about the Warriors' court.
After being covered by tarp, the lights went out in Oracle Arena and the Warriors' new home floor was revealed.
The team's new home floor has a new color scheme ...
... with the new logo adorned at half court.
Immediately after the floor was revealed, fans rushed courtside to get a closer look and take photos.
Shortly after that, the Warrior Girls broke in the new floor with a high-energy dance routine.
The fans were definitely happy to see the new floor, but they were also anxious for the NBA Draft to begin.
But before that happened, they were treated to a chalk talk hosted by Bob Fitzgerald and featuring Warriors guards Anthony Morrow ...
... and Stephen Curry.
After discussing several Warriors topics, both Morrow and Curry participated in a game sponsored by Verizon.
Just a year removed from the NBA Draft himself, Curry was happy to speak to the reporters on hand at the event.
It was then time for the 2010 NBA Draft to begin.
As the Warriors' turn to pick at No. 6 approached, all eyes turned toward the video boards showing the event unfold on television.
And with the sixth pick of the 2010 NBA Draft, the Warriors selected Ekpe Udoh from Baylor.
Shortly after the pick was made, Fitzgerald interviewed Udoh live from the Draft Party via satellite.
In addition to the interview with Udoh, fans were also treated to an acrobatic dunking display courtesy of the Flying Dubs.
The Warriors 2010 Draft Party, presented by Verizon, had something for everybody.
Kids who maybe couldn't sit through an entire NBA Draft had several activities to choose from ...
... and some fans were even lucky enough to have their photo taken with Curry and Morrow on the new floor.
It's safe to say that Warriors fans enjoyed themselves thoughout the Draft Party.
From the excitement of selecting a new player ...
... to hearing from ones who have been on the team a few years ...
... to the abundance of kids activities ...
... to shopping for new merchandise ...
... to being treated to multiple GTOE performances ...
... everyone who attended the Draft Party, presented by Verizon, had A Great Time Out.
The Warriors send a huge 'Thank You' to Kinder's Meats for supplying the food at the barbecue ...
... and the Warriors also thank Verizon for being the presenting sponsor of this event.
Most of all, the Warriors thank their tremendous fans for showing up in large numbers and making the Draft Party such a tremendous event.
