Will Serve As Team’s Athletic Trainer For Remainder Of 2010-11 Season

The Golden State Warriors have reached an agreement with Troy Wenzel to serve as the team’s head athletic trainer for the remainder of the 2010-11 season, taking over for Tom Abdenour, who accepted a position with San Diego State University earlier this month, the team announced today. Wenzel is expected to join the Warriors later this week.

Wenzel has a dozen years of NBA experience, having served as the head athletic trainer for the Milwaukee Bucks (2000-01 to 2002-03) and the Vancouver Grizzlies (1995-96 to 1999-2000), as well as assistant athletic trainer for the Denver Nuggets for four seasons prior to joining the Grizzlies. Additionally, he served as the athletic trainer for the USA Basketball Men’s World Championship Team in 2002 and as a staff athletic trainer for the 2003 NBA All-Star Game in Atlanta.

In joining the Warriors, Wenzel is taking a leave of absence from his position as the Vice President of Houston Regional Development for Airrosti Rehab Centers, LLC (www.airrosti.com).
