Warriors Sign Season Ticket Holder Kevin Sweeney
Union City Resident Returns for 10th Season Under Risk-Free Renewal Agreement

The Golden State Warriors have signed season ticket holder Kevin Sweeney for the 2011-12 season, co-owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber announced today. A member to the greatest fan base in all of professional sports, Sweeney came to terms on a risk-free agreement that will ensure his place at Oracle Arena next season.

“This renewal plan is just one small example of our commitment to our shareholders,” said Lacob. “We owe it to our incredible fans, like Kevin, to raise our level of expectations for this organization and to perform at the highest level in all possible phases.”

A resident of Union City, Sweeney has been a Warriors season ticket holder since 2002. He attends over 30 games each season with his wife and family and, on occasion, will toss his tickets to his daughters for their exclusive use.

“One of the elements that I like most about attending games is simply the atmosphere and the crowd,” said Sweeney, who considers the Warriors’ OT win over Orlando as the most exciting home game of the season. “It is exciting every single night and the crowd is really into the game with their energy. The fans are terrific, especially compared to some of the other games that I’ve seen on TV in other venues.”

A graduate of Cal-State Hayward, Sweeney moved to the Bay Area in 1975 and considers Tim Hardaway as his all-time favorite Golden State player. Sweeney’s favorite player on the current roster, Dorell Wright, gets the nod because of his ability to be a “game-changer” and the overall intensity that he brings to the floor. Sweeney thought the off-season signing of Wright was a good move and is curious as to what might be next.

“I’m anxious to see who we add to the roster in the off-season,” said Sweeney. “I like the leadership of the team and I think we could be a playoff team next year if we can make the right additions.”

“We feel very fortunate to retain a fan like Kevin for the upcoming season,” said Guber. “Kevin is a valued member of our organization, and one of the key components to the unmatched atmosphere at Oracle Arena. Our goal is to honor and reward our fans’ loyalty in every way possible.”

As a renewed season ticket holder, Sweeney was automatically entered for the chance to win prizes at a recent Warriors game, including the opportunity to shoot a half court shot for $10,000 cash. See a video recap of his experience below, including the prize package he chose.
