Warriors Sign Season Ticket Holder Dr. Jose Rene Miranda
Santa Rosa Resident Returns For Another Season Under Risk-Free Renewal Agreement

OAKLAND, CA – The Golden State Warriors have signed season ticket holder Dr. Jose Rene Miranda for the 2011-12 season, co-owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber announced today. A member of the greatest fan base in all of professional sports, Dr. Miranda came to terms on a risk-free agreement that will ensure his place at Oracle Arena next season.

“This renewal plan is just one small example of our commitment to our shareholders,” said Lacob. “We owe it to our incredible fans, like Rene, to raise our level of expectations for this organization and to perform at the highest level in all possible phases.”

Dr. Miranda, who resides in Santa Rosa, is currently in his second stint as a Warriors season ticket holder, having held seats from the late 1980s until 1996, and most recently since 2005. A native of San Francisco’s Mission District, Rene grew up watching the San Francisco Warriors play at both the Cow Palace and San Francisco Civic Center.

“I remember when I was 10 years old and my Mission Dolores CYO team was selected to play at halftime of a Warriors game at the Civic Center,” said Dr. Miranda, 58. “As we were heading out to the court, I turned the corner and ran smack into the thigh of one of the players. I was so little at the time that I had to keep looking up, up and up before I realized that it was Nate Thurmond. I was in shock and will never forget that moment.”

Not coincidentally, Dr. Miranda lists Thurmond, who was a rookie during their chance encounter, as his all-time favorite Warriors player. A lifelong fan who attended games of the 1975 Finals at the Cow Palace as a 23-year old medical student, he lists Baron Davis’ famous dunk against the Utah Jazz in the 2007 NBA Playoffs as one of his favorite all-time Warrior memories.

“We feel very fortunate to retain a fan like Rene for the upcoming season,” said Guber. “Rene is a valued member of our organization, and one of the key components to the unmatched atmosphere at Oracle Arena. Our goal is to honor and reward our fans’ loyalty in every way possible.”

As a renewed season ticket holder, Dr. Miranda was automatically entered for the chance to win prizes at a recent Warriors game, including the opportunity to shoot a half court shot for $10,000 cash. See a video recap of his experience below, including the prize package he chose.
