Warriors Sign Season Ticket Holder Clinton Smith
San Lorenzo Resident Returns for Second Season Under Risk-Free Renewal Agreement

The Golden State Warriors have signed season ticket holder Clinton Smith for the 2011-12 season, co-owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber announced today. A member of the greatest fan base in all of professional sports, Smith came to terms on a risk-free agreement that will ensure his place at Oracle Arena next season.

“This renewal plan is just one small example of our commitment to our shareholders,” said Lacob. “We owe it to our incredible fans, like Clinton, to raise our level of expectations for this organization and to perform at the highest level in all possible phases.”

A resident of San Lorenzo, Smith has been a Warriors season ticket holder since the beginning of the 2010-11 season. He elected to pursue season tickets for the initial time this season after attending many games the previous year with a friend who owned season tickets. Smith, who has attended all but one home game this season, is simply amazed at the enthusiasm of Warriors fans.

“I am so proud to be a part of this fan base,” said Smith, who was born in Hayward and spent a brief part of his childhood in Washington (state). “We are the best fans in the NBA. The excitement at Oracle Arena makes it a very special place. I know it’s not like that everywhere.”

Smith, who was one of the lucky season ticket holders to have an opportunity to shoot a half-court shot for $10,000 after renewing his season tickets (air ball, unfortunately), indicates that Monta Ellis is his favorite Golden State player – past and present. He believes Ellis is one of the most fun players to watch in the NBA and admires the fact he plays more minutes than any player in the league.

Smith also credits his interest in Warriors basketball – and one of the reasons he renewed – to his season ticket-holder service representative, Danielle.

“She has been fantastic,” said Smith. “If I need anything, she is always there to help me. The entire service staff has been great and very accommodating. It’s nice to know they are there for you.”

The Warriors’ home wins over Toronto and Orlando were the two most exciting wins of the season, according to Smith, and he’s looking forward to more excitement in the future.

“I realize a really good team is not built overnight,” said Smith. “But, this year has been much better than last year and I’m looking forward to next season being better than this season. It’s a process.”

“We feel very fortunate to retain a fan like Ed for the upcoming season,” said Guber. “He is a valued member of our organization, and one of the key components to the unmatched atmosphere at Oracle Arena. Our goal is to honor and reward our fans’ loyalty in every way possible.”

As a renewed season ticket holder, Smith was automatically entered for the chance to win prizes at a recent Warriors game, including the opportunity to shoot a half court shot for $10,000 cash. See a video recap of his experience below, including the prize package he chose.
