Warriors Launch Team’s Official Mobile App – "Golden State Warriors Mobile"
Latest Digital Offering & Free In-Arena Wi-Fi At Home Games Allow Fans To Stay Constantly Connected To Team

The Golden State Warriors have launched the beta version of Golden State Warriors Mobile, the team’s first-ever official mobile app, which allows fans to stay constantly connected to Warriors news, stats, social feeds, videos and more, including exclusive special offers, the team announced today. The Warriors are currently one of seven NBA teams to offer an official mobile app.

Golden State Warriors Mobile, which is available via Apple’s App Store, debuted with a soft launch on Thursday, April 12, as the Warriors hosted the Dallas Mavericks and celebrated the team’s Second Annual Bollywood Night, presented by Adobe. An even more robust, full-scale version of Golden State Warriors Mobile will debut prior to the 2012-13 season in both the App Store and Google Play markets.

Fans using Golden State Warriors Mobile, or connecting to any wireless device, while at the team’s home games at Oracle Arena are benefitting from a free in-arena Wi-Fi system that the Warriors have installed this season. The system, which was installed through a partnership with AT&T, includes 185 access points to cover the building’s 19,596 seats, concessions stands and concourse areas. The Wi-Fi system is free and accessible to all fans with Wi-Fi enabled smartphones, tablets or devices. Golden State is one of only two teams in the NBA offering free in-arena Wi-Fi to all fans. Additionally, fans using AT&T devices can take advantage of a newly installed Distributed Antenna System (DAS) that has the ability to provide enhanced wireless coverage to customers in spaces where geographical limitations – terrain, building construction, etc – or crowd density might otherwise prevent an optimal wireless experience.

“Launching our official team app and providing free in-arena wi-fi access are important steps in the continued digital growth of our organization,” said Warriors President & Chief Operating Officer Rick Welts. “The app empowers fans to stay engaged with the Warriors like never before, and the free wi-fi allows everyone attending our games to stay connected and share their experiences with their friends – things that we know are important to our tech-savvy fans.”

The AT&T Wi-Fi system has been put to great use by Warriors fans this season, as an average of 4,342 fans per game have accessed the system. The Wi-Fi system, which does not require the user to enter any passwords or user names, saw its peak usage during the Warriors game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday, March 16, when more than 5,300 users accessed the system.

The Warriors currently rank first in the NBA in in-arena mobile check-ins at home games, averaging more than 1,800 check-ins per game. The team incentivizes fans to check-in to “Golden State Warriors Home Game” on Facebook at each game by offering exclusive Deals, or instant rewards, to those fans checking-in. The team delivers a new Deal at each game, including once-in-lifetime opportunities such as meeting NBA legend Jerry West, attending postgame Q&A’s with Warriors’ players and shooting free throws on the court following the game, in addition to special merchandise offers and other exclusive perks.

Golden State is among the fastest growing teams in the NBA when it comes to Social Media, as the team currently boasts over 330,000 “Likes” on the Warriors official Facebook page – representing 73% year-over-year (YOY) growth in “Likes” – and 80,000 followers of @warriors on Twitter – representing 321% YOY growth in followers and 86% growth since the start of the 2011-12 NBA season. The team’s YOY growth in Twitter followers ranks second in the NBA behind only the Miami Heat.
