The Golden State Warriors, as part of the NBA’s comprehensive global games schedule during the 2013-14 preseason, will travel to China to play the Los Angeles Lakers in Beijing’s MasterCard Center on October 15 and in Shanghai’s Mercedes Benz Arena on October 18, the team and the NBA announced today. This will be the team’s second visit to China as part of the NBA Global Games, when the Warriors played two preseason contests with the Milwaukee Bucks in Beijing (1-0) and Guangzhou (0-1) during the 2008-09 NBA preseason.

“Being chosen as one of eight teams to travel abroad to further develop the game of basketball and the NBA globally is an honor,” said Warriors President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Welts. “We are proud that this trip will serve as another important connection between China and the rich Asian culture that is such a big part of the fabric of the Bay Area, and of our fan base.”

The Golden State Warriors are one of eight teams selected to participate in the NBA global games, which will include a total of eight games in six countries this October. The global games will also include the first-ever NBA preseason games to be held in Brazil and the Philippines, as well as in the cities of Bilbao, Spain and Manchester, England. In addition to the oncourt action, the NBA global games will feature a variety of events off the court, including NBA Cares community outreach activities and interactive fan events in each city.
