QUOTES

Don Nelson

On tonight's game
"Well that was a quality win. We played our best game of the year and if not, it was close. I thought it was a good game, and a fun game to coach. Jackson, Monta, Barnes played exceptional, and everybody else made a nice contribution. I thought Jack was just terrific. We didn't have to run a play for him all night."

On having Matt Barnes back
"He gives me another weapon to have and it's good to have him back. I didn't think I would have to play him 35 minutes, but he was great out there."

On Monta Ellis
"He's just playing great right now. He had 31 on the road trip in Philadelphia. He had been struggling with his shot, but found it in Philadelphia and continued with it here tonight. I thought Monta and Baron played wonderful together tonight. When he makes his jump shot, he just makes things go a lot easier."

On tonight's starting lineup
"I thought that was the best lineup to beat the Suns tonight. I don't know if the lineup was a one-time deal, but when I get the chance to make a coaching decision that will help the team I'll make one. The Suns actually brought out their big lineup. I don't know if I've ever seen that before. We did a good job following our game plan, but it also helps if you score 129. About the only team that can beat us if we scored 129 would be the Suns...but they didn't tonight."

Stephen Jackson
On tonight's game
“It feels good just to come home. I think the biggest thing was I wanted to come out here, stay poised, not be too out of control or too hyped and just pay hard.”

On Monta Ellis
“He’s just letting the game come to him. He knows he’s going to be a big scorer for us a lot of nights. And we just want to continue to give him that confidence to feel free. He’s a big part of our team. He had an excellent game tonight and really brought home this win for us.

Monta Ellis
On his fourth quarter performance
“It was fun. Me and Baron just stuck to running that screen. Coach said stay with it, and my shot was going so I just kept shooting it.”

On having Matt Barnes back
“It’s just great to have Matt back. He brought a lot of energy tonight. We were back to our scrapping selves, where everybody is rebounding and running the ball. That’s how we won the game today.”

On tonight's game
“It was a great win to get back to ourselves. If we start doing the things we were doing at the end of the season last year, we’ll win a lot of games no matter who we are playing. We came out, started quickly, and finished it off.”

Matt Barnes
On being back with the team
“It’s good to get back and try to get my personal life off my mind for a little while. So it was good to get back with my second family.”

On having the whole team back
“It felt good. We’re really a good team when we have our whole team together and we share the ball and play defense like we did tonight. We showed we can beat one of the best teams in the league. It feels good to have everyone back and now we just need to keep pushing forward.”

On Monta Ellis
“He’s being more aggressive. He knows for us to win, he has to score. He’s just taking it upon himself to be more assertive and more aggressive.”
