T'WOLVES
(1-7)

105

The Warriors put together their best performance of the season on Monday night, dominating the Minnesota Timberwolves with a 146-105 victory at Oracle Arena. Kelenna Azubuike got hot early and stayed that way for the majority of the game, finishing with 31 points on 13-of-19 shooting. Azubuike’s hot hand was contagious, as the Warriors shot 57 percent from the field. Setting up many of those made baskets was Stephen Jackson, who came through with a career-high 15 assists to go along with his 10 points, six rebounds and four steals. Monta Ellis added a double-double as well, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The Warriors will look to build on this win when they open a season-long five-game road trip on Wednesday at Indiana.

QUOTES

Don Nelson
On Stephen Jackson:
“I thought he set the tone for the game by moving the ball as everybody else did as well. I thought he did an excellent job on (Ryan) Gomes, who’s their leading scorer.”

On Tonight's Game:
“Our two wins were against teams that were struggling. I wouldn’t make too much out of it but we did play well. We did a lot of things we’ve been working on to share the ball like make the extra pass and we did that tonight.”

On Anthony Morrow Starting The Second Half Over Stephen Curry:
“No biggie. Just that I thought (Anthony) Morrow was playing great and we have to get him on the floor more. Monta (Ellis) is developing a visual image of where he (Morrow) is now, which before was hard to play. He (Morrow) would be out there and be our best shooter but he would never get a pass or shot because he’s not a defensive stopper. He’s just a very competitive kid and a great, great shooter. The guys are just finally figuring it that out.”

Monta Ellis
On Tonight's Game:
“This is the way we should play every night, this is what we are capable of doing. That was all the goals that we set for ourselves”

On What Worked Tonight:
“First of all we played good defense. Got a lot of deflections, got the fast break going, got a lot of help defense, rebounded the ball and got out and ran.”

On Having 22 Steals:
“That was huge for us, that’s how we really got our rhythm going - got the steals and got out running.”

Stephen Jackson
On Having 15 Assists:
"I just wanted to make plays. I know I’m one of the guys that has to make plays for other guys and not worry about my shot that much. So I just wanted to come out and be aggressive and make plays and try and get us going, and for the most part it worked.

On If He Can Be a Passer Every Night:
“I have to go off how we are playing. Some nights I may have to score, but tonight I think it was a night where I had a mismatch with the four on me and every time I got the ball the paint just collapsed and every time I got the ball they were paying attention so the plays I made were easy, it wasn’t hard plays, just basketball plays.”

On Playing Well vs. Sub-.500 Teams:
“I think being a young team the guys feel more confident against teams that they feel they have the same record, but we have to have that confidence. I know me, personally, I have that confidence against any team, but as a team we have to have the confidence whether we’re playing Boston or Minnesota.”
