November 6, 2007

The Warriors first win of the season evaded them again with Tuesday's 108-104 loss to LeBron James and the Cavaliers at ORACLE Arena. Baron Davis led the Warriors with 29 points and 10 assists and Monta Ellis came off the bench to add 22 points, but it wasn't enough to keep Golden State from falling to 0-4 on the season. The Warriors will return to ORACLE Arena on Thursday when they host the Mavericks in the first-ever It's A Great Time Out Thursday contest.

QUOTES

Don Nelson

On tonight's game
"I thought we played a pretty good game - our best game of the year. We had a chance to win. I thought the key plays were the three open-court blocks by James. Those were three sensational plays ... unbelievable."

On Monta Ellis
"Monta as kind of flu-ridden. I didn't want to play him as long as I did but he was one of my best players. He'll probably get tomorrow off."

On Baron Davis
"I thought fatigue played a role in the fact Baron couldn't get where he wanted to go at times, although he had LeBron on him ... I needed the ball in Baron's hands. He didn't shoot a real good perentage. I've seen him sharper, but the thing I liked was that he competed and he gave us the best effort he could tonight."

On The Team
"We still don't have that rhythm that we had last year. We just can't seem to get everyone on the same level at the same time."

Andris Biedrins
On tonight's game
"We actually played pretty good this game. I think this is the best game we have played yet, but we just weren't lucky at the end of the game. We couldn't make a couple of shots and that's why we lost. But we still had a chance to win the game."

On The Team's Free Throw Shooting
"Of course, it cost us. Our goal was to shoot 80 percent this year, so we still have to work on those free throws. Because in games like this we cannot afford to miss this many shots."

Matt Barnes
On tonight's game
"It’s very frustrating. We have a great crowd, but we are starting to get better. You can see the improvement game by game. We just have to start putting a complete game together, but it’s coming."

On Baron Davis
"I’ll take Baron all day, everyday against anybody. As a supporting cast, I think we are starting to get a little bit of rhythm and trying to take some of the load off his shoulders because he’s been carrying us this season. But we need to help him out. There are no moral victories, but we did do some things well. It all starts on the defensive end."

Brandan Wright
On Making His NBA Debut
"It was a relief, just to finally get out there in a regular season game. But to finally get out there and play with the guys, especially in a tight game. For him to call my number, I definitely need to step up. I plan on contributing a lot to this team this season. We are going to need a lot of help rebounding and defense, so I’m excited about the future."
