QUOTES

Don Nelson

On The Jazz
"They’re an awfully good team and they’re playing at a high level and we expected they would. I Didn’t get much from my bench tonight … it was just a long night. But we’ve got to put it behind us because we’ve got the Clippers (on Friday), so we’ll have practice tomorrow and then play."

On Playing Without Stephen Jackson
"We missed Jackson in all areas tonight. He improves the intellect of the team, but I don’t know if he would’ve been a difference maker tonight. I think the Jazz are one of the best teams in the West. If we can win half of our games without Jack, that would be good."

On Playing Baron Davis
"Next game I’m going to take more of a mentality to play Baron. If we’re playing well the next game with Baron (on the floor), I’m just going to continue to play him. We just need him on the floor early."

On The Warriors
"I wouldn’t put us in the playoffs yet, not until we earn it. We’re going to have to dig and scratch to make the playoffs along with some other tough teams."

Monta Ellis
On The Jazz
"We could have played a whole lot better. Everybody went out and played their heart out. I don't know what it was, but we're here together, so hopefully we can learn from this and move on. It's only the first game of the season. We need to put this one behind us and look forward."

On Playing Without Stephen Jackson
"Jack brings everything, energy, defense. He’s a great team player, a team leader and we missed him tremendously tonight. I won’t say that if he was here, we probably would have won, but it definitely would have given us that spark to scrap like we usually scrap."

Mickael Pietrus
On Utah's Size Advantage
"Rebounding was tough, especially against Carlos Boozer. It's tough to get rebounds, but we tried to run them and make them tired. But it's only the first game, so we'll try again Friday."

"It's tough to play against them, especially without (Stephen Jackson), but we look forward to playing against them on Saturday. They got one from us, so we'll look to get one from them. But they are a great team."

Andris Biedrins
On Playing Without Stephen Jackson
"I think Jack is the kind of guy who picks everybody up. We need somebody to speak up loud sometimes and kind of pull the pieces together."
