Playing their second game of a four-game road trip, the Warriors were unable to pull out a victory, falling in a 111-86 contest in Dallas on Wednesday night. Monta Ellis scored a team-high 27 points for Golden State, but it was not enough to help the Warriors even the season series with Dallas. Despite the loss, the Warriors still sit just one game behind Denver for the eighth spot in the Western Conference. The Warriors will look to get back on track when they travel to Memphis to play the Grizzlies on Friday night.

Don Nelson

On tonight's game:
“I thought a big difference was Nowitzki playing and it’s quite an inspiration to their ball club. They just went to a different level that we’ve seen this year and if they can keep that level going they’re as good as anybody in the West. I thought they played a sensational game. But they kept the pedal to the metal the whole game and basically just dominated us and we just didn’t have enough in the tank to compete with them tonight. But I thought it was Nowitzki’s arrival and trying to play and Avery [Johnson] did a marvelous job not playing him too much and taking him out. It was just a great job – their whole team responded.”

On the Warriors transition defense:
“Well, first of all, they’re running more as each game goes by. I think Avery is allowing Kidd to run the ball more, push it, and I think that’s a real positive for Dallas. We sure helped them because we were not getting back, and admiring our shot as we shot it, and staying too long instead of getting our defensive transition game going. But, they [Mavericks] were good. They rebounded, they guarded, they scored, they ran good stuff, they had the whole thing going tonight and give them the credit.”

Baron Davis
On being frustrated with the loss:
“There [wasn’t anything] we could do. We got our butts kicked tonight. They were running – they just out ran us. And I just think that we got tired. But now we’re a game behind, so we just have to retune and get ready for Memphis. At this point you’ve got to be able to shake off tough losses like this and get to the next game and, win or lose, it’s important to be ready for the next game. And I think that’s what we have to be as a team in order to find that spark. We have to get our spark back and that’s going to start with Memphis.”

Stephen Jackson
On his performance:
“In order for us to win I have to play a lot better. I was 2-for-12 last game and 1-for-11 [tonight]. I’ve got to play a lot better, so that’s basically it. I play better we win.”
