Warriors Hot and Cold in Defeat
The Warriors nearly came all the way back from a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit but ultimately lost 126-123 to the Timberwolves on Sunday in the opener of a seven-game road trip. Golden State had got off to a hot start, shooting 57.4 percent from the field, but went cold in the third quarter and Minnesota took advantage. Stephen Curry led the Warriors comeback with 11 of his 33 points in the final period, and his 11 rebounds were a career-high. Dorell Wright scored 15 of his 26 points in the first quarter, Monta Ellis had 20 points and eight assists and David Lee had 20 points and 10 rebounds in the defeat. Despite those numbers, the Warriors lost the rebounding battle 61-40 and allowed the Timberwolves to make 12 three-pointers. Losers of three-straight, the Warriors will look to get back on track on Tuesday in Indiana.

Keith Smart On today's game:
"We didn't do the dirty work that needs to be done. We let one slip away. The way we played in the third quarter, we managed to bounce back and take care of the first quarter with some energy."
"This is a painful loss. Credit Kevin Love, we couldn't do anything on the glass. Second opportunities for him and getting to the free throw line."
On the team's rebounding:
"Rebounding is desire. I thought guys went in and tried to get them, but you have to be determined to get the ball. Steph (Curry) did a good job of getting the ball and catching the long ones and things like that. There are some dirty ones right close to the basket we've got to come up with that we didn't come up with tonight. And Kevin Love, he's going to play in that area."
David Lee On the comeback attempt:
"Yeah it was too little too late. We put ourselves in that position we didnít play well in the third quarter at all we couldnít buy a bucket and we couldnít stop anybody on defense. We made a good come back we didnít give up but thatís beside the point."
Monta Ellis On today's game:
"We had every opportunity to win this game tonight. We are disappointed about it because we are tying to get over that hump and this is a game we should have got. We just waited too late to play."
Stephen Curry On today's game:
"We gave it away. We had control at half time and they made a huge run in the third quarter and they had a ten point lead on us in the fourth. Thatís just not situation you want to be in when you are trying to win a game. We had fought our way back and had a chance at the end, but they made a great defensive play. Itís a tough loss."
