QUOTES

Don Nelson

On tonight's game:
“Croshere to the rescue. I thought it was Croshere’s best game of the year. He was a factor for the first time in quite a while and helped us win this game. I sure was searching, it didn’t seem like it was going to be easy. We had a lot of guys that had off games. We just had to find a way to win it and Croshere was the guy.”

On Starting Austin Croshere for the Second Half:
“I liked the way he was playing when I subbed him in the first half. I liked the momentum of the team. We just really struggled to do very much right early and our spacing wasn’t good, our ball movement wasn’t crisp, and when he was in the game all those things, all of a sudden, started to solidify themselves. I thought I would just go with him and I asked the coaches what they thought and they agreed with me, that the team ran well when he was in the game and that’s the reason why I started him."

On the Defense in the Second Quarter:
“Baron tied a career high seven steals in the game and we did have our most productive quarter deflection-wise and steal-wise, and that’s usually a good sign for us.”

Monta Ellis
On Austin Croshere:
“His play speaks for itself. I think if he wouldn’t have played and came off the bench and gave us that spark to get us back, it would have come all the way down to the wire. But he came and gave us that spark and everybody fed off him and we got back and took the lead.”

Austin Croshere
On his play tonight:
“We have such great scorers in Stephen Jackson, Baron, and Monta that you really just try and play off of those guys. They command double teams and anytime you can cut to the basket you’re gonna get some easy shots.”

On Andris Biedrins being out:
“It’s a difficult situation but you don’t have a choice. Everyone has to go out there and step it up. The biggest thing that Goose (Biedrins) brings is his rebounding so everyone really needs to step up in that area.”

On playing significant minutes:
“It was a lot of fun. We were struggling a little bit with some chemistry and what to do with Goose (Biedrins) being hurt right now, and tonight it was working for us so coach stuck with it.”

Baron Davis
On Austin Croshere:
“He had an excellent game for us tonight. We needed that, we needed some energy. He came and he was the guy who hustled and made all those hustle plays for us.”

On Croshere starting 2nd half:
“I saw it coming. He just came and played with that energy that we needed. And that’s what we need from our guys coming off the bench, is to make plays, make hustle plays. If our bench can out-hustle the opposing teams bench I think it creates a energy level. It creates an energy level that gets the starters pumped up and gets us playing defense.”
