Warriors Fall To Lakers In Nail-Biter
The Warriors led for most of the game but couldnt pull it out in the end, falling in a 115-110 nail-biter to the Lakers on Wednesday night. An electric crowd at Oracle Arena saw a classic match-up between Monta Ellis and Kobe Bryant. Ellis nearly matched Bryant point for point, finishing with 38 points on 15-of-26 shooting. Ellis' strong play had the Warriors, who were out-rebounded 47-27 in the game, up by six heading into the fourth quarter, but Bryant led a Lakers charge with 17 of his game-high 39 points coming in the final period. Dorell Wright came on strong in the second half and finished with 27 points, while Stephen Curry added 15 points and 10 assists in defeat. The Warriors will return to action on Friday when they take on the Clippers in a Family & Friends contest that will allow fans to save up to $33 per ticket.

Keith Smart
On tonight's game:
We are showing you can compete against some of the best teams in the league. Weve shown that we can do that. I said earlier, if we can take care of the basketball we will have a chance every night to win. I felt Stephen (Curry) did a god job at trying to push the pace a little bit, managing the game with an aggressive defender on him, and I like the way our big guys played. Our bench was really engaged in the game, even some of the guys that didnt play were involved and active in the basketball game.

On the atmosphere at Oracle Arena:
We knew it was going to be electric. One thing about the fans, some have Laker jerseys on but as we start getting closer to a win we see them start cheering for us a little bit. Weve got great fans that support the team and our players, and eventually we will get things turned around in the right direction.

On whether Monta Ellis has extra motivation against the Lakers:
Im sure he does. Kobe (Bryant) speaks about him in a pretty high manner. Im sure he gets up to play for him, just as hes done to play against Dwyane Wade or any of those guys. I think those guys who play at that level they all get up to play against each other. I think hes now moving in that direction with some of those better off guards in the league.

On Defending Kobe Bryant in the 4th Quarter:
Well you try and hope he misses some shots. Hes just going to make plays. Back-to-backs dont mean a whole lot because big time players will play. He makes shots, he understands how to do that. Theres nothing you can do. Hes in the area where we thought we had him off the lane and then he raises up for a 28, 29 footer and he makes a tough shot that was contested. What can you say? An MVP, a champion and a super competitor, when you have those combinations you find ways to give your team a chance to win.

Monta Ellis
On tonight's game:
It was a great team. It was a great test for us; we gave it our all and left it out on the court. We didnt want the outcome to turn out as a loss, but we have another game on Friday, so we just have to move on to that one and put this one behind us.

On facing Kobe Bryant:
Its just two players trying to get a win. Ive known for the last three years that I would be guarding him, so I just prepare and do whatever it takes.

On his 1st half success:
My shots were going down. We were pretty much getting anything we wanted. I have to give credit to my big men and Steph (Curry) and them finding me in the open spots. I give them the credit for my first half performance.

David Lee
On tonight's game:
We do have depth at the big spot now. We knew they had the advantage on us. They have the advantage at every position. I watch a lot of their games that are on late. There is not one team in the league that has the same size except Boston when theyre healthy. With that being said, I thought we competed well. In the second half (Pau) Gasol really didnt hurt us, (Lamar) Odom had some put backs, (Andrew) Bynum didnt shoot a great percentage but Kobe just got hot late and thats what hurt us.

On Monta Ellis:
Being sick is one of those things where you either come out and play really well or really bad. We know which one he played tonight. Once again he did a great job tonight and led us offensively. He actually played really good defense on Kobe (Bryant) there at the end but Kobe was Kobe.
