GAME MATCH-UP
Warriors
(18-18)
VS. Magic
(21-14)
ORACLE Arena
Wednesday, January 10, 2007
7:30 p.m.

The Warriors will begin a three-game homestand on Wednesday when they welcome Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic to ORACLE Arena. The contest marks another Web Wednesday, giving fans the chance to use online discounts to save up to $15 per ticket. And new this season, each fan purchasing a Web Wednesday ticket will be given a California Lottery Scratch Card containing a guaranteed prize.

The Warriors return home after splitting a home/road back-to-back over the weekend. After defeating Seattle 108-104 at ORACLE Arena on Saturday, the Warriors traveled to Phoenix and dropped a 128-105 decision to the division-leading Suns.

The home success and road trouble was representative of Golden State's entire season, as the team has played well at home all season while struggling on the road. With a 14-5 home ledger, the Warriors are tied for the fifth-most home wins in the NBA. In fact, the team has won six-straight contests at ORACLE Arena, with its last loss coming over one month ago (December 2 versus Milwaukee).

And as Bob Fitzgerald pointed out in the most recent edition of Fitz Files, the Warriors need to survive the month of January if they wish to be in contention for a Western Conference playoff spot. This will entail playing well both at home and on the road, and also doing it without the services of Jason Richardson.

Golden State will look to use their home court advantage against an Orlando team that is currently leading the Southeast Division with a 21-14 overall mark. The Magic are currently riding a four-game winning streak behind the impressive play of Howard, Jameer Nelson, Grant Hill and the rest of team.

An intriguing match-up to watch will certainly be Howard versus Andris Biedrins. The two young big men are each playing beyond their years this season, with Howard carrying averages of 17.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocks and Biedrins averaging 10.7 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. Seeing as how neither player has even reached his 22nd birthday, this match-up should be a good one for years to come.

Following Wednesday's contest, Golden State will have one day off before hosting the Miami Heat on Friday in a recently-unveiled Family and Friends Weekend contest.

Just a reminder, fans can send Baron Davis, Jason Richardson and Troy Murphy to the 2006-07 All-Star Team by voting at any Warriors home game, or simply by filling out an online ballot.
