On the upcoming NBA Draft:

It’s a talent evaluation. Obviously different scenarios come into play. Where we stand right now at #11, I feel there is going to be a good player there. It is very obvious that what happens above us will dictate much of what we do.

On the possibility of moving up or down in the draft:

There is some scenarios to do both. I think they are realistic, whether or not they happen, that is a different story. It is conceivable, it could happen.

On drafting the best available talent or filling a team need:

At my core, I lean more toward the best player available. Again, depending on where we are when that selection comes, if I had to pick one or the other, I would say I am more of a best player available person.

On the Warriors team needs:

We will consider what we know we have coming back, and add to that. Add talented players, and players that fit, that can coexist and win together. We need more good players, as many as we can get. We need to keep adding talent that makes sense together.

On valuing in-game performance vs. individual workouts:

mullin
I think you combine them all. Ideally, you have seen a guy play four years of college, in pressure situations, and in practice. There are some guys like that, then you have guys whom our scouts have seen only half of that time. When you feel like you have a target, you try and get all the information that you can. You don’t weigh any one thing more than the other; you try and get the full read on that guy. It is all going to vary based on who that individual is and the information available.

You learn a lot through these workouts. You can put guys through specific drills that you like, but there are other things that you can not do, such as 5-on-5.

On what he would like to see from the team next season:

mullin
Win more games of course, that is everyone’s objective. I would like to see continued growth individually, continued teamwork, and a meshing of that individual talent. Ultimately that is going to be the way you win. We are trying to create an atmosphere where we give everything we can towards preparation, and winning, where we give the players and coaching staff everything they need, and in turn expect a lot back.
