Club Owns 11th Overall Selection In Next Month’s NBA Draft

The Golden State Warriors held on to their slotted position in the 2004 NBA Draft Lottery this evening, with the club maintaining ownership of the 11th overall selection in this year’s NBA Draft (June 24). The 20th annual edition of the NBA Draft Lottery was held at the headquarters of NBA Entertainment in Secaucus, New Jersey.

The Warriors, who were represented on-stage at the drawing by Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin, had just a nine-in-1,000 chance (0.90%) of winning the annual draw which is held to decide the top three picks in the annual draft. The remaining order of selection is based on inverse order of finish from this past season, with the exception of the fourth overall pick, which is held by the Charlotte Bobcats. Beginning their first season in the NBA in 2004-05, the Bobcats did not participate in the lottery.

This evening’s draw marked the 14th time that Golden State has been a part of the lottery drawing, with tonight’s outcome marking the fourth time that the club has held onto its pre-lottery position in the process.
