Golden State Warriors rookie guard Stephen Curry has been selected to compete in the 2010 Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout, to take place at NBA All-Star Saturday Night in Dallas, TX, on Saturday, February 13, the NBA announced today.

Curry, 21, currently ranks 10th in the NBA in three-point field goal percentage, having connected on 42.9% (78-182 3FG) of his long range attempts this season. Over his last 23 games played, Curry is shooting 47.7% (51-107 3FG) from three-point range, including an eight-game stretch from December 18 – January 5 in which he shot 58.8% (20-34 3FG) from beyond the arc. In the final game of that stretch, on January 5 at Denver, he went 6-of-6 from long range to tie the Warriors’ franchise record for most three-pointers made in a single-game without a miss. The Charlotte, NC, native has connected on two-or-more long range shots in 22 of his 48 games played this season, and has shot better than 50.0% from three-point range in 21 contests. He has also made at least one three-pointer in 37-of-48 games played thus far during his rookie campaign.

Overall for the season, Curry is averaging 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.83 steals in 34.2 minutes per contest, while shooting 45.1% (255-565 FG) from the field and 86.7% (85-98 FT) from the line. Selected by Golden State with the seventh overall selection in last June’s NBA Draft out of Davidson, Curry was named the NBA’s Western Conference Rookie of the Month for January.

At the Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout, Curry will be following in the footsteps of his father, Dell, who took part in the NBA’s three-point competition twice during his 16-year NBA career – in 1992 when the contest was held in Orlando, FL, and again in 1994 in Minneapolis, MN. The younger Curry also becomes just the third rookie to compete in the league’s long range shootout since the contest began in 1986, joining Dennis Scott (1991) and Kyle Korver (2004). This year’s Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout field also includes Denver’s Chauncey Billups, Miami’s Daequan Cook, Phoenix’s Channing Frye, Boston’s Paul Pierce and New York’s Danilo Gallinari.

In addition to his participation in the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest, Curry will also represent the Warriors on the Rookie squad in the 2010 T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam on Friday, February 12. In that game, teammate Anthony Morrow will represent Golden State as a member of the Sophomore squad.
