Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for March, the NBA announced today.
Curry, 22, appeared in 14 games in March, averaging 19.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.79 steals in 37.5 minutes per contest, while shooting 46.1% (106-230 FG) from the field, 50.0% (40-80 3FG) from three-point range and 92.6% (25-27 FT) from the line. Among Western Conference rookies last month, he ranked second in scoring, third in assists, first in three-point percentage, second in free throw percentage, second in steals, third in minutes and seventh in rebounding. Within the league’s nine major statistical categories, Curry ranked in the top-three among Western Conference rookies in six of those categories, while the next closest rookie ranked in the top-three in just four categories.
Selected by the Warriors with the seventh overall pick in last June’s NBA Draft, Curry posted three double-doubles in March, all of which were of the 30-point/10-assist variety. He became the first NBA rookie to post at least three 30-point/10-assist games during a calendar month since Oscar Robertson in February of 1961. Curry has now registered five 30-point/10-assist efforts, a feat that no other NBA rookie has accomplished once this season.
This marks the second Western Conference Rookie of the Month Award for Curry, as the Charlotte, NC, native also took home the award in January.

- March 5 @ Atlanta: Finished with 31 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and two steals in a 127-122 loss to the Hawks.
