Anthony Morrow Named To Sophomore Squad In 2010 Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam
Warriors Guard Will Replace Chicago’s Derrick Rose On Sophomore Squad At NBA All-Star Weekend Event

Morrow will square off with teammate Stephen Curry, who was named to the Rookie team last week.
Golden State Warriors guard Anthony Morrow has been named to the Sophomore squad for the 2010 Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam, to be played Friday, February 12, at NBA All-Star Weekend in Dallas, the NBA announced today.

Morrow, 24, has appeared in 36 games this season, averaging 11.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.03 steals in 29.4 minutes per contest, while shooting 47.9% from the field, 44.3% from three-point range and 90.0% from the line. He currently ranks sixth in the NBA in three-point field goal percentage. Last season, Morrow led the NBA in three-point accuracy, shooting 46.7% from beyond the arc to become the first rookie in NBA history to pace the league in that category.

Amongst second-year players who meet statistical minimums to qualify this season, Morrow currently ranks first in three-point percentage, first in free throw percentage, 13th in scoring and 18th in field goal percentage. Last season, as an undrafted rookie out of Georgia Tech, Morrow burst onto the NBA scene on November 15, 2008, when he registered a career-high 37 points in his first career NBA starting assignment against the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center. The 37-point effort marked the most points ever scored by an undrafted rookie and the most points ever scored by a player in his first-ever NBA start dating back to 1970 when the league began tracking starts.

In the Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam, Morrow will be competing against teammate Stephen Curry, who will represent the Warriors on the Rookie Squad. This marks the first time that Golden State has had a player on both the Rookie and Sophomore squads in the same season.

Morrow was added to the Sophomore squad to take the place of Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose, who was excused from the Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam in consideration of being named to the Eastern Conference roster for the 2010 NBA All-Star Game and his participation as defending champion in the Taco Bell Skills Challenge on All-Star Saturday Night.
