"We are excited about this trade," said Mullin. "As I've said on several occasions, we are always looking to make our basketball team better and, with this move, I think we have accomplished that goal. We have acquired players who will fit in very well with our particular style of basketball. As with any trade, we also had to surrender players that we like both on and off the court. I think this transaction will be good for both teams and all of the players involved."
Harrington, 26, has appeared in 36 games this season with the Pacers, averaging 15.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in 33.6 minutes. He has scored a season-high 32 points on two occasions (11/4 at New York and 11/10 vs. Orlando) and converted a career-high-tying six (6) three-pointers against the Warriors in Oakland on November 29. Additionally, he collected a career-high 18 rebounds vs. Milwaukee on November 21. Last season, the 6'9" forward averaged a career-high 18.6 points (30th in NBA) and 6.9 rebounds in 76 games with the Atlanta Hawks, registering in double figures in scoring in 70 of 76 appearances, including 20-plus points on 32 occasions. An eight-year NBA veteran (did not attend college), Harrington was originally selected by the Pacers in the first round of the 1998 NBA Draft (25th overall). He spent the first six years of his career with the Pacers before being traded prior to the 2004-05 season to the Atlanta Hawks (for Stephen Jackson), where he played for the previous two campaigns. Overall, he has averaged 12.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in 532 games during his NBA career.
