Fasten your seatbelts everybody, because Thursday is going to be a wild ride when the Warriors host the Mavericks in Game 6 of their First Round Playoff series. Holding a 3-2 advantage in the series, the Warriors will be looking to close out the series in front of their home fans at ORACLE Arena.
Individual tickets for this contest are sold out, but there’s still a way to secure your Warriors 2007 playoff tickets. Click here to find out how.
Tipping off at 7:30 p.m. and being broadcast on TNT and KNBR 1050, Game 6 will be another hot ticket that figures to present another electric atmosphere at ORACLE Arena. Games 3 and 4 marked the largest and perhaps loudest crowds in franchise history, and there is no reason Thursday’s contest should be any different.
Game 6 was made necessary on Tuesday after the Warriors dropped a dramatic 118-112 decision in Dallas. Golden State trailed by as many as 21 in the second quarter before storming back into the game. The Warriors appeared to be in complete control of the game when Baron Davis knocked down a three-pointer with 3:21 remaining, but then Dallas went on a 15-0 run to end the game.
While it certainly was a tough loss for the Warriors, it was by no means demoralizing. Golden State took Dallas’ best shot and bounced right back and was in position to win right up until the final moments. Now the Warriors come back to ORACLE Arena, a place where they are 32-11 this season (including playoffs) and haven’t lost in more than a month.
If Game 6 plays out like the rest of the series, expect another Warrior or two to have a breakout performance. Baron Davis has played consistent basketball at a high level throughout the series, warranting “MVP” chants from the Warriors faithful, and Jason Richardson has certainly improved his performance since a shaky Game 1. Since then, different players have stepped up at different times.
Mickael Pietrus broke out in Game 4 and Game 5 belonged to Matt Barnes. Davis’ former roommate at UCLA, Barnes finished Tuesday's action with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. After the Mavericks built their 21-point advantage in the second quarter, Barnes became the aggressor and helped lead the Warriors comeback. He continued to flourish in the fourth quarter when his thunderous left-handed dunk in the fourth quarter gave the Warriors their first lead of the game.
Now the Warriors will look to get contributions throughout the lineup as they continue their quest to become the first-ever No. 8 seed to knock off a one-seed in a best-of-seven playoff series.
If Game 7 becomes necessary, it will be played back in Dallas on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Otherwise, the Warriors will wait on the result of the Utah and Houston series to see who they will be playing in the second round.
