July 6, 2007
Wright averaged 14.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in one college season at North Carolina.
The Golden State Warriors have signed Brandan Wright, the eighth overall selection in last week’s NBA Draft, to a contract, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
Wright, 19, was originally selected by the Charlotte Bobcats with the eighth pick in the 2007 draft and was acquired by Golden State in exchange for Jason Richardson and the draft rights to the 36th overall pick (Jermareo Davidson).
A 6-10 forward, Wright played one season at the University of North Carolina, averaging 14.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.76 blocks per game, while shooting 64.6% (228-353 FG) from the field. Wright led the Atlantic Coast Conference in field goal percentage, while also ranking sixth in the conference in blocks (65), 13th in points per game and 14th in rebounds per game. For his efforts, Wright was named ACC Rookie of the Year and was a Second Team All-ACC selection. Additionally, he was named to the NCAA All-East Regional Team after averaging 12.8 points and 7.0 rebounds in four NCAA Tournament contests.
