Warriors To Open 2007-08 Season At ORACLE Arena On NBA’s Opening Night

In addition to releasing next season’s schedule, the Warriors also announced that Club 200 Starting Five Mini-Plans are on sale, beginning today. This marks the earliest date during the off-season that mini-plans have been made available to the public. The mini-plans, which include many of the most popular games on the schedule, can be purchased by clicking here, or by calling 1-888-GSW-HOOP.

Golden State is slated to make 11 national television appearances this season, with five (5) games scheduled on TNT and six (6) appearances on ESPN. The Warriors’ initial nationally televised game will be TNT’s coverage of Golden State’s first 2007-08 meeting against the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday, November 8, at ORACLE Arena in a re-match of last season’s historic First Round Playoff series. TNT’s exclusive Thursday night telecasts will also feature Golden State’s home contests versus the New Jersey Nets (January 24), Chicago Bulls (February 7) and Denver Nuggets (April 10), in addition to the Warriors’ road game at the Phoenix Suns (March 13).
ESPN is set to telecast Golden State’s home games against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, December 14; the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, February 13; and the Seattle SuperSonics in the regular-season finale on Wednesday, April 16. ESPN will also carry Golden State’s road games against the Chicago Bulls on Friday, January 18; the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, March 19; and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, April 2. In addition to the 11 appearances on TNT and ESPN, the Warriors will also have nine (9) games carried on NBATV, the league’s 24-hour cable network.

Highlights of the Warriors’ 2007-08 home schedule include early-season match-ups against some of the NBA’s best teams and most popular players, including LeBron James and the Eastern Conference Champion Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, November 6; Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns on Monday, November 26; Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady and the Houston Rockets on Thursday, November 29; Dwyane Wade, Shaquille O’Neal and the Miami Heat on Friday, December 7; Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and the World Champion San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, December 11; Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, December 14; as well as Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets on Friday, December 28.
Beginning in February, the Warriors will enjoy a stretch in which they will play 10 of 11 games at home, including meetings with Jason Richardson and the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday, February 1; Mike Bibby and the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, February 9; Gilbert Areas and the Washington Wizards on Monday, February 11; a return visit by the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, February 13; Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and the new-look Boston Celtics on Wednesday, February 20; Kevin Durant and the Seattle SuperSonics on Tuesday, February 26; and concluding with a visit by top overall draft pick Greg Oden and the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, March 2.
The Warriors will play four of their final five games of the regular-season at ORACLE Arena, featuring return visits by the Sacramento Kings (Tuesday, April 8) and Denver Nuggets (Thursday, April 10), as well as the regular-season finale against the Seattle SuperSonics (Wednesday, April 16).
The 2007-08 NBA schedule will once again use a 30-team format (two conferences of 15 teams each, with three five-team divisions within each conference) in which teams will play each opponent within their division four times, while playing six of the remaining 10 teams in their conference four times, and the four remaining teams in their conference only three times. Teams will also play all 15 opponents outside of their conference two times each. For 2007-08, the Warriors will play only three games against the following Western Conference opponents: San Antonio Spurs (two at home, one away), Seattle SuperSonics (two at home, one away), New Orleans Hornets (one at home, two away), and Utah Jazz (one at home, two away).
Golden State’s road schedule includes a pair of five-game roadtrips as well as three four-game trips. Additionally, the Warriors will play 20 sets of back-to-back games this season. Thirteen of the back-to-back sets fall on the road, five (5) start on the road and end at home, while another two (2) will begin at home and conclude on the road.
