LET’S GET IT STARTED…
Well, the night we have been waiting for is here. Opening night is tonight and the Warriors will take on the Atlanta Hawks and there are still some tickets available.
It is a season of anticipation and one of hope. However, one must realize that there is a lot of work to do and that the very balanced and deep Western Conference will be hard to overcome.

Check your listings for Baron Davis’ appearance on Wheel of Fortune as part of an NBA Charity program. The Warriors guard participated in NBA Week on Wheel with other NBA starts past and present. In addition to the cash and prizes being played for by the contestants, the NBA and WNBA stars will be playing to aid the American Red Cross as well as for separate charities of their own choosing. He is scheduled to appear on Thursday, November 3rd.

BUZZ, BUZZ, BUZZ...
There is a definite (you guessed it) buzz in the Bay Area concerning the Warriors and it is sometimes found in the least likely of places. I wear Warriors gear often when I am out and about and have received comments about my apparel in places like the movie theatre, the golf course, the coffee shop, the supermarket and on the beach at Incline Village at Lake Tahoe.
MAILBAG...
Tim,
What is the condition of Ike Diogu? Will he be ready for Opening Night? We need him if the Warriors are to be at their best.
Tom
Tom,
Ike has had another look at that hand and the healing process will require another couple of weeks. Try to think about having his fresh legs around Thanksgiving time and what a boost that could be for the team.
Tim,
Although, there a lot of excitement about the upcoming season, I still think it is going to be tough for the Warriors to make the playoffs. Thus, I propose the first trade of the 2005 – 2006 season. This trade all depends on the Timberwolves struggling this season. I trade J-Rich, Murphy, and Dunleavy, with our pick for 2006 and get Kevin Garnett. I do not know the salary slots to make it work. The starting five of Davis, Pietrus, Garnett, Diogu, and Foyle, is a formidable starting five and you still have a deep bench.
What do you think?
Regards,
Chandler
Chandler,
It’s Opening Night for crying out loud! Let’s wait and see how this group does first before we start into the trade talk! Now, seriously, I think you have a good point that the West is really deep and the road to the postseason is a long and arduous one. I believe though, that with J-Rich, Murph and Dunleavy maturing as players coupled with a legitimate All-League player in Baron Davis; the Warriors have the recipe.
Tim,
Hi my name is Art and I've been a Golden State Warriors fan since my High School days while attending Mission High School, from 1965 through 1967...So I remember Bill King and Rick Barry, as well as Wilt Chamberlain and Nate Thurmond.
I truly believe that the Warriors will be the most improved team in the NBA this year and that Ike Diogu will make a complete recovery very soon. There is a lot of optimism in the air and I believe it is real. The young center Andris Biedrins could develop into one of the best young centers in the NBA over the next few years.
On a personal note I don't own my computer, but if I did I would listen to the Warriors over the internet!
Art,
On behalf of the Warriors franchise, thanks for your long time support. You mentioned some legends from the past and I saw two of them at the Bill King Memorial this week. Nate and Rick were there as well as former owner Franklin Mieuli, as we all celebrated the life of the Bay Area’s greatest sportscaster.
As far as the Warriors are concerned, I agree with you that Andris will be just fine and by this time next year, we may know what the limit will be for him. He is only 19 and in his second season is still the tenth youngest player in the league. Good luck with the computer and I hope to see you at the Arena this year.
KEEP THE E-MAILS COMING, THE SEASON IS HERE!!!
