Matt Barnes is ready to finally be taking on another team. (photo: Monique Saenz)
GAME DAY — 10 P.M. AIRTIME ON KNBR 1050AM

FINALLY, it’s here. The first preseason game is where we all get to answer some of the questions that we have about this young Warriors squad. There are some legit items out there to be sure.

  • How will the young players fit in?
  • How much will they play?
  • How much progress will Andris and Monta make?
  • Will Baron play 60-70 plus games?
That’s a lot of ?s ... Anyway, as I write this, the team is at shootaround. Before they left, I stopped Matt Barnes and asked him about playing against another team at last. Check out his response by clicking here.

HONOLULU
We arrived yesterday afternoon and grabbed some dinner last night on the beach at Waikiki, which is one of the tourist meccas of the world. The diverse population of this city is amazing with the influx of people from across the world, making this an interesting place to people watch.

AL
I also spoke with Al Harrington this morning and he is anxious to go, following a good week of work out at Turtle Bay. To watch video of the interview, click here.

Question
Tim,
Make sure you try the Shrimp Scampi at Giovanni’s white shrimp truck if you haven't yet – it is to die for.

Answer
Jay,
Outstanding recommendation! I had tried a shrimp plate at one of the other shacks, but Giovanni's was great and just another reason for me to love the islands. Thanks for the tip.
Go Warriors and Aloha,
Tim

This year's training camp has been a tremendous learning experience for Brandan Wright. (photo: Monique Saenz)
Question
Hi Tim,
First of all, I want to say that I always enjoy listening to you every game. I am a big fan. I am a young journalism student, and I've been covering/writing about the Warriors since I was in junior high school (about 10 yrs ago). It's very refreshing and exciting to see the success/improvement of this team. I'm so glad to see things finally coming together. OK, now to my question: Coming into the NBA Draft, there were high expectations for Brandan Wright. Do you think he'll make a significant contribution to the Warriors this season? How do you think he'll fit in with this group?
Best wishes this season,
Safiya

Answer
Safiya,
Thanks for the kind words and it's great to chat with a journalism student. The media was around Brandan yesterday and here is what he had to say about his projected impact this season. Hope you enjoy it.
Aloha,
Tim

Question
Hey Tim,
The Warriors, for the first time in years, have a ton of depth at every position. Who can we expect to make the Opening Night, 12-man roster? Jax is out for the first seven games, so of course this will change once he returns, but who can we expect to make that Opening Night roster? Stephane Lasme, Troy Hudson, Austin Croshere and Patrick O’Bryant seem to be all having good camps, but can they really afford to send Brandan Wright to the D-League?
Thanks Tim,
Brad

Answer
Brad,
The Opening Night roster, as my best guess, is as follows (barring injury):
Baron Davis
Monta Ellis
Brandan Wright
Al Harrington
Andris Biedrins
Matt Barnes
Marco Belinelli
Kelenna Azubuike
Troy Hudson
Patrick O'Bryant
Austin Croshere
Mickael Pietrus
.
INACTIVE
.
Stephen Jackson *
Kosta Perovic
Stephane Lasme
* Stephen Jackson will begin serving a league-mandated seven-game suspension when the Warriors open the regular season on Oct. 30.

I'm not sure if they would send Brandan to the D-League, as he has the raw potential to give them some quality minutes this year.
Thanks and Aloha, I hope you’ll be listening tonight.
Tim
