Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 Points - 45th Anniversary

Chamberlain was 36-63 from the field and 28-32 from the free throw line on his way to a record-setting 100 points.
With the Warriors playing the New York Knicks on Friday, March 2nd, it is only appropriate to pay respect to a man who performed the impossible on the same date some 45 years ago.

On March 2, 1962 Wilt Chamberlain and the Philadelphia Warriors hosted the New York Knicks in Hershey, Pennsylvania. On that night, in front of 4,000-plus fans, Chamberlain poured in an NBA record 100 points, a mark that has never been close to being approached in the 45 years it has stood.

Wilt went 36-63 from the field and 28-32 from the free throw line on the night, and scored an NBA record 59 points in the second half. The out-of-this-world performance was the highlight of a season in which he went on to average 50.4 points and 25.7 rebounds per game.

Before passing away in 1999, Chamberlain said of his performance, ""As time goes by, I feel more and more a part of that 100-point game. It has become my handle, and I've come to realize just what I did."
