Just a day after taking the Cavaliers down to the wire, the Warriors will take on another Eastern Conference power on Wednesday when they take on the Boston Celtics. This season’s lone visit to Boston will close out a five-game road trip for the Warriors, and the action will tip-off at 4:30 p.m. on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 1050.
The Warriors will enter their road trip finale on the heels of Tuesday’s 114-108 loss in Cleveland. Golden State showed a tremendous amount of resiliency in that contest and nearly came back from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter. The Warriors played with just seven healthy bodies on Tuesday, and that will likely be the case again on Wednesday. Regardless of how severe they are short-handed, the Warriors will need to play with that same level of grit and determination to compete with the Celtics, who enter their contest with the Warriors with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.
In addition to avoiding a letdown a day after an emotionally charged game, chemistry will be important as the Warriors close out their longest road trip of the season. Playing his first game with the Warriors after Monday’s trade with the Bobcats, Vladimir Radmanovic was immediately inserted into the starting lineup and meshed well with his new teammates, finishing with 11 points and five rebounds in 34 minutes.
Fellow former Bobcat and now Warrior Raja Bell was in uniform in Cleveland, but did not play due to an injured left wrist. Bell’s injury is just one of many for the Warriors, who learned on Tuesday that Kelenna Azubuike will undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn patellar tendon in his left knee. In addition, the Warriors remain shorthanded without Brandan Wright (left shoulder surgery), Andris Biedrins (osteitis pubis) and C.J. Watson (flu). Ronny Turiaf, meanwhile, joined Bell on the bench and remained available only in case of emergency as he recovers from a sprained left knee.
Come tip-off, however, the Celtics won’t care about the Warriors’ injury woes. Instead, they will have payback on their minds after the Warriors handed them a 99-89 defeat in their last meeting last season.
Following Wednesday's contest, the Warriors will play their first home game in nearly two weeks on Friday against the Portland Trail Blazers . The contest will include a Friends & Family offer, giving fans the chance to save up to $79 on a package that includes four tickets, four hot dogs, four bags of chips and four soft drinks.
