Playing their third game of an eight-game homestand, the Warriors will host the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday. The second and final meeting of the season will mark a Family and Friends offer, allowing fans to get a Wienerschnitzel hot dog, soda and bag of chips with each ticket purchased. Packages start at less than $50, and fans can save up to $33 per ticket on seats in the lower level.
This Friday is also Latino Heritage Night, and those purchasing a ticket through this special event will be treated to a postgame Q&A with UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez, plus a commemorative Latino Heritage Night shirt designed and produced by Dethrone Royalty! The Warriors and Bobcats are set to tip things off at 7:30 p.m., and those unable to attend the Friday night showdown will be able to follow the action live on CSN Bay Area (HD) and KNBR 680.
As Warriors owner Joe Lacob said on Thursday's Gary Radnich Show on KNBR, Ellis and Curry are one of the NBAs top guard duos. Their combined total of average points, rebounds, assists and steals is higher than that of any other guard duo in the league, but the Warriors can't solely rely on them. Instead, they need greater production from their bench should the team start winning on a consistent basis. Warriors reserves totaled for 14 points on 5-of-18 shooting during Wednesdays 112-103 loss to the Hornets, and most of that damage was done when the game was already out of reach. Whether its fatigue, foul trouble or injury, the starters wont be able to go 40-plus minutes every night, so it will be important for players like Reggie Williams, Vladimir Radmanovic, Ekpe Udoh and Acie Law to provide production on a consistent basis.
While the Warriors are certainly happy to be at home for an extended period of time, the schedule hasnt been as cooperative. The Warriors hosted the NBAs best the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, the Hornets winners of 10-straight on Wednesday, and it doesnt get much easier on Friday. The Bobcats have won four of their last five games, including each of the last three on the road. Chalotte is 10-6 under Paul Silas, who took over as head coach upon Larry Browns resignation last month. Stephen Jackson leads the team with 18.0 points per game, Gerald Wallace averages 15.9 points and Kwame Brown has revived his career with four double-doubles in his last seven games. Though the Bobcats are only 19-25 on the season, they are much more dangerous than their record would indicate.
Following Fridays game, the Warriors will continue their homestand with another Family and Friends contest against the Jazz on Sunday, and other upcoming opponents at Oracle Arena include the Bucks (Feb. 3), the Bulls (Feb. 5), the Suns (Feb. 7) and the Nuggets (Feb. 9).
Monta Ellis ranks among the league leaders in several categories, but the praise from his peers might make for his best case to become a 2010-11 NBA All-Star. Read the most recent warriors.com blog entry and find out what Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson are saying about the All-Star guard.
