Mark Jackson

On his assesment of the preseason:
“We have to feel real good about what we were able to accomplish. In the Summer League in the preseason we developed great habits, worked extremely hard and we have a great group that is committed. Now the challenge is everyone starts back at zero; and can we chase down what we want now. We have to be proud about what we were able to do, no matter what. Feels good, but let’s make this a feeling that we expect every time we step out on the floor.”

On what he's learned about his roster:
“Especially tonight – we were bad last night. We were real bad. We owned it. The challenge was, if we want to be a good team – the good teams bounce back. We had to do it on the defensive end and by executing. I’m sure my guys were tired, with the back-to-back, but we responded. At the end of the day, I know a lot more about this team. I know I have a great group of guys that are together. I have a bunch of guys that are buying in to what we want them to do. I know I have a team with tremendous depth with no personal agendas. That’s the start of chasing down what we want.”

On Harrison Barnes:
“This was as good as he’s played. I thought defensively he got after it. Offensively he was aggressive, outside of a couple of plays where he didn’t take the first shot available to him. This is how I need him to play. I don’t need him to play like an old vet. That’s not why he is on the floor. I need him to play with energy, effort and I need him to slash and finish while putting pressure on the defense.”

On the open small forward starting spot:
“I think you can’t go wrong either way. I think both guys (Harrison Barnes & Brandon Rush) had some great bright spots this preseason. It’s just the question of what we need and how best we can put together these guys as a unit. How do they fit starting and coming off the bench. I’ll make that decision and we’ll move forward. Both guys are more than capable of starting and I’m extremely confident with the depth at that position.”

Stephen Curry

On preseason games:
“You go through preseason and you fight really hard to get better as a team and individually. But you know these games don’t count even though we went 6-2, as of right now we are 0-0. I’m looking forward on going through another year, we have a great lineup, great guys in the locker room that are trying to have a fantastic season and it starts on Wednesday.”

On starting the season:
“There is a lot of optimism and lots of excitement. The roster is a little more experienced and we’re shaping up well. Once Wednesday starts it’s about taking those opportunities that we have in front of us. I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully we get off on a good foot and set the tone for how the season will be.”
