Box Score
Playing without Stephen Curry, the Warriors struggled to make shots and take care of the basketball in Monday night’s 88-71 loss to the Clippers in Los Angeles. Jarrett Jack led the way for Golden State with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists while David Lee added in 14 points and pulled down nine boards of his own. The Warriors committed 22 turn overs and shot just 33 percent from the field in the defeat. The Dubs will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they take on the Suns at home in their preseason finale.
Mark Jackson
Overall thoughts on tonight’s game:
“I thought it was the first time in a long time we looked like a bad team. We didn’t rebound the basketball. We didn’t execute. We took the path of least resistance. It’s embarrassing, we’re a much better team than [how] we played tonight.”
Pre-season progression:
“It’s not a setback, when you look at the preseason as a whole, we’ve been riding a pretty high wave and things have been going great and I think this is good experience for us. You see what happens when we stray away from who we are, and why we’ve been so successful.”
Play and development of Festus Ezeli:
“I thought for spurts he was very good, went after the basketball, was aggressive, and then for some spurts he made some mistakes. But he’s going to be just fine. He has a high IQ, loves the game. He is my starting center [without Andrew Bogut].”
Klay Thompson
Overall thoughts on tonight’s game:
“We didn’t play very good at all. We didn’t shoot great, we didn’t play good defense. We didn’t help each other enough, and the good thing [about] the NBA, we bounce back and got Phoenix tomorrow.”
Richard Jefferson
Overall thoughts on tonight’s game:
“[We beat] ourselves.” It’s a nine day road trip, which is uncommon for the pre-season. We give them all the credit, they played a great game. We didn’t have it offensively. We didn’t have it defensively.”
David Lee
Overall thoughts on tonight’s game:
“We just didn’t play well overall. Preseason, that’s going to happen sometimes. I think we did a poor job defensively. We have nights like that, and we’ll be back on it tomorrow night.”
