Warriors Make-A-Wish Holiday Party, presented by Comcast SportsNet Bay Area
December 6, 2013
The Golden State Warriors continued their “Plays for the Holidays” initiative, by hosting their third annual Make-A-Wish Holiday at the Oracle Arena for thirteen Bay Area children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation in partnership with Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.
Warriors players Toney Douglas, Festus Ezeli, Draymond Green and Nemanja Nedovic, as well as Comcast SportsNet Bay Area Sportscasters Erin Coscarelli and Brodie Brazil, helped host the event, which transformed the Warriors home court into a children’s theme park complete with interactive games, a gingerbread house station, photo booths, basketball games, and more.
Thirteen Bay Area youth with life-threatening medical conditions, as well as their families, had an opportunity to fulfill their wish of meeting and playing with Warriors players.
Upon arriving at Oracle Arena, each Make-A-Wish child was presented their own customized Warriors jersey.
Warriors Hype Woman Ruby Lopez welcomed the families to the event and announced that each child would be an honorary Warriors player for the evening.
As Ruby announced each child’s name, they ran onto the court from the player’s tunnel and met Draymond, Festus, Toney, Nemanja, Brodie, and Erin at center court for a huge high-five.
Next, everyone was treated to an electric performance by the Flying W’s. A few lucky volunteers event got to participate in a few tricks.
The evening was filled with tons of activities, like the Comcast SportsNet SportsCaster Experience booth…
...an autograph station to meet and talk to their favorite players…
…decorating gingerbread houses…
…a ton of different games…
…and a photo booth filled with silly costumes.
The children had a chance to shoot some hoops on the court (with a little help from Draymond)…
…get a (temporary) Warriors logo tattoo…
…and simply enjoy the party.
At the end of the evening, everyone received a special Warriors and Comcast holiday gift bag.
The Make-A-Wish Holiday party created an endless amount of heartwarming moments and brought an infinite amount of smiles and priceless memories for everyone involved.
A special thanks to Comcast SportsNet Bay Area for sponsoring the event. As well as the vendors who participated to help make the event a great success, including, Kitchen On Fire, Levy Cares and Fenton’s Creamery.
