Warriors Draft Picks Introduced
July 2, 2012
On Monday, July 2nd, the Warriors held a press conference to introduce their 2012 NBA Draft selections Harrison Barnes, Festus Ezeli, and Draymond Green.
The new Warriors rookies were introduced by General Manager Bob Myers.
The three Warriors draft picks answered questions about finishing the draft process and beginning their professional careers with Golden State.
Warriors General Manager Bob Myers conveyed his excitement toward the Warriors new additions: “We want to win, and we just added three people who are going to help us do that.”
Drafted 7th overall, Harrison Barnes will wear No. 40 for the Warriors.
Taken with the 30th overall selection, new Warriors center Festus Ezeli will wear No. 31.
Draymond Green, the 35th overall pick, will wear No. 23.
After the formal press conference, the Warriors draft picks broke off into individual interviews with the media.
The rookies then had a chance to spend some time with Warriors Head Coach Mark Jackson...
…And sat down with Warriors broadcaster Jim Barnett.
The draft picks then got to take a photo shoot in their new Warriors uniforms.
After the press conference, the Warriors draft picks made a special stop at the Rainbow Recreation Center in Oakland to help instruct the youth and give them basketball related tips.
Oakland City Councilmember Desley Brooks was in attendance to welcome the newest members of the Warriors to the Bay Area and the city of Oakland, and presented each of them with a welcome pack filled with local Oakland goods.
The clinic started off with the Warriors Youth Camps staff showing the kids how to warm up properly. They then broke into smaller groups to work on drills with the players.
Harrison showed the kids proper shooting technique.
Festus’ group was focused on rebounding.
And Draymond helped with ball handling and passing.
At the end of the clinic, the kids got a chance to ask the newest Warriors some questions.
The visit concluded with a group photo.
The Warriors would like to thank the City of Oakland Parks and Recreation for introducing Festus, Draymond, and Harrison to their newest fans. The basketball clinic was a great experience that the kids and players won’t soon forget.
