Warrior Girls: April 2013
May 1, 2013
April has been a busy, but very exciting month for the Warrior Girls.
The Warriors finished the month 3-2 at home and clinched a playoff berth with a victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves on April 9.
With the Warriors in the playoffs for the first time since 2007, the Warrior Girls prepared new routines and even got new uniforms.
This year the Warrior Girls hosted the first ever Warrior Girls reunion.
Alumni from the ‘80s, ‘90s, and early 2000 all returned to Oracle for a weekend of catching up, dancing, and spending time with their fellow Warrior Girls.
All of the dancers performed during halftime of the Warriors-Jazz game on April 7.
The girls have also been busy making appearances throughout the Bay Area to celebrate the Warriors’ playoff berth with the fans.
On April 18, Amira and Casey spent time with fans at Lucky Supermarket in Oakland. They also helped out with that day’s Playoff Ticket Scavenger Hunt Challenge – finding a Klay Thompson bobblehead hidden in the store.
Later that night, Amira celebrated with fans at a Jack in the Box in San Francisco. She even surprised one fan with a Stephen Curry bobblehead.
On April 19, Patrisha and Amira helped host an Employee Playoff Rally at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland. The girls signed autographs, posed for pictures, and handed out special Warriors prizes.
Meanwhile, Kimberly and Casey surprised fans at a nearby McDonalds with Warriors car flags, magnets, lawn signs, and stickers.
Before Game 2, Amira and Kimberly spent time with fans at Metro PCS in Emeryville.
Afterwards, the girls headed to San Francisco for Jawbone’s Playoff Rally. Everyone enjoyed music by DJ D-Sharp and cotton candy while the Warrior Girls raffled off prizes.
On April 23, a few of the girls attended Kaiser Permanente’s Get Fit Pep Rally at Mosswood Park. To help educate the youth on the importance of being active, the girls taught several kids different dance routines.
Laura, Casey, and Patrisha joined Jim Kozimor on the Comcast SportsNet Bay Area show to discuss the Warriors’ season and their plans for playoffs.
On April 8, Amira and Danielle joined the Esurance and Warriors staff to help beautify Bayview Park in San Francisco as part of the Warriors’ Green Mob initiative.
For the Warriors-Lakers game on April 12, Kimberly and Anabelle headed to San Francisco’s Park 77 to watch the game with fans at the Warriors Road Viewing Party. There they raffled off Warriors prizes, signed autographs, and posed for pictures.
The Warrior Girls traveled to Santa Cruz a few times to support the D-League Warriors and entertain the fans.
The Santa Cruz Warriors finished their inaugural season in second place after losing in the finals to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
As always, one of the highlights of game days is being able to spend time with the amazing fans.
We hope to see you during the playoffs!
